La Clínica de La Raza, is one of the largest community health centers in California. We have medical, dental, & behavioral health services and serve patients in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano. Our Mission is to improve the quality of life of the diverse communities we serve by providing culturally appropriate, high quality and accessible health care for all.

Eligibility: Enrollment in an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. La Clínica Stipend: 8 hours/week for 30 weeks = $5,520.00 or 20 hours/week for 30 weeks = $15,000.00 for students who are not already receiving a school or county stipend for their internship at La Clínica

Training Topics Include:

• All La Clinica Internships
• Assessment, Diagnosis (DSM & ICD-10) and Establishing Medical Necessity
• Risk Assessment and Safety Planning Training
• Individual and Family Therapy
• Stages of Treatment-Building Rapport/Therapeutic Alliance
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Motivational Interviewing

Additional Training/Seminars:

• Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Schools (IBH, School Based Health Center Sites)
• Psychopharmacology (Casa del Sol)
• Medi-Cal Documentation Standards for Specialty Mental Health services (Casa del Sol)
• Training and Certification in CANS (Child and Adolescent Strengths and Needs Assessment) (Casa del Sol)

Internship Activities:

• Support and observe Assessment, Crisis Stabilization, Brief Treatment, On-going Treatment and Care Coordination under the direction of a prescriber.
• Multidisciplinary meetings
• Shadow clinicians providing mental health assessment and group (all sites). Shadow school visit, home visit,Board & Care visit, psychiatric hospital visit & psychiatric evaluation (Casa del Sol Oakland only)
• One-way-mirror supervision/training session each semester (Casa del Sol Oakland only)
• EHR (EPIC) training

• Weekly Individual Supervision
• Weekly Intern Seminar
• Weekly Case Conference/Team Meeting
