Job Summary:

Apprenticeship Trainee’s are temporary employees who are given short term opportunities to learn skills that may lead to fulltime employment with La Clinica or elsewhere. Typically, employees hired into this classification have minimal education, language barriers, or a general lack of experience. This work provides them with a variety of experiences while limiting the amount of time they work. Apprenticeship trainees are like volunteers in that they do not perform a permanently set body of work and are not intended to be long term. Apprenticeship is a system for training a new generation of workers with on-the-job training and often some accompanying study.

Once accepted into the Apprenticeship/Trainee program:

  • The Apprentice/Trainee cannot work more than 1040 hours in a fiscal year.
  • The Apprentice/Trainee cannot remain in the program for more than 1,095 days (3 years) from time of hire.
  • The Apprentice/Trainee can apply for any regular position for which they are qualified while working as a trainee or afterwards.
  • After separation as an Apprentice/Trainee the individual may not be hired as an Apprenticeship/Trainee, other temporary employee, independent contract worker (1099), or brought in as a volunteer for 365 days from the time of their separation for the Apprenticeship/Trainee position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Bending/lifting, pushing/pulling, adjusting, or moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds in all directions and occasionally more.
  • Repeating motions that may include the neck, wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Upper extremity demands: Reaching above shoulder and/or below waist.
