Job Summary:

We are seeking a Report Writer to join our Information Technology (IT) department. The ideal candidate will have experience with various reporting tools and software, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The role involves working on multiple projects simultaneously, analyzing data, creating customized reports, and presenting findings to colleagues. Effective communication is key, as Report Writers often present their findings to others in the company. Successful candidates will have a unique combination of technical expertise, interpersonal skills and will thrive in a dynamic healthcare and data systems environment. This role reports to the Information Manager.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility, include but are not limited to:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the ongoing work of La Clinica to evaluate and manage reports.
  • Builds, maintains, and iterates on reports that may include clinical, financial, and business metrics.
  • Reporting using Business Objects, Crystal Reports, SQL, Excel, etc.
  • Data validation of reports and analytics on a specified timeframe
  • Trouble shoots reporting issues and tracks through internal ticketing system.
  • Documents all processes performed.
  • Works with off-the-shelf and custom-built utilities to assist with services workflow and data importing processes where applicable.
  • Assists in report request specification gathering, leads development of requested reports, and assists in validation of reports.
  • Collaborates with relevant contractors and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate daily with the Informatics Manager and regularly provides project status to the supervisor, other project stakeholders, and clinical and operational leadership as appropriate.
  • Serve as a trusted partner working with staff to analyze needs and develop cross-functional solutions to enhance productivity, improve support, and facilitate service delivery to La Clinica’s clients.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of Relational databases, Excel, and MS SQL
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms, e.g. Tableau, i2i Systems
  • Familiarity with OCHIN’s Epic Clarity database preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHRs e.g. Epic, NextGen, Dentrix front-end and database structures with preference given to candidates with additional experience in current state-of-the-art systems for Pharmacy, Lab systems, Optometry, and Behavioral Health (IBH and Specialty).
  • Knowledge of operating principles, methods and limitations of data processing equipment and software.
  • Healthcare Industry experience preferred.
  • Work with limited database documentation to build accurate queries directly in SQL. This may require some reverse engineering of existing stored procedures and reports written by other colleagues and developers to fulfill requirements.
  • Review and optimize existing queries written by other developers for reporting from Operations and Financial transactional databases.
  • Strong analytic, troubleshooting skills; can problem solve, organize, and manage multiple tasks and projects in a health information systems environment with large volumes of data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to identify root causes of data integrity and application performance issues.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Some evenings, nights, and weekends are occasionally required. May include taking after-hours support calls.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to accept changes gracefully.
  • Able to work professionally and collaboratively in team-based care delivery.
  • Ability to work and communicate with people from various ethnic, socio-economic, educational and life experience.
  • Ability to be kind, empathetic, considerate, understanding, highly communicative, willing to work with others to solve problems, unable to talk down to others, consider everyone an equal, respectful, and must be an all-around great human being to work with.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Requires an Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 1 to 2 years of experience.

OR

  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training with demonstration of progressively higher responsibilities.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Bending/lifting, pushing/pulling, adjusting, or moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds in all directions and occasionally more.
  • Repeating motions that may include the neck, wrists, hands and/or fingers.
