Job Summary:
The Mobile Clinic Driver is responsible for driving and operating La Clinica de la Raza’s mobile van(s) to deliver community-based health services, for maintenance of mobile van, and for assisting with clinic functions. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and professional operation of the vehicle, including transport to and from designated service sites, daily setup and breakdown, and basic maintenance to keep the mobile unit safe and fully functional for patients and staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Driving and Maintenance:
- Operates and transports the mobile van to and from assigned service locations and storage facilities, adhering to all safety regulations and state motor vehicle laws.
- Arrives on time to set up and be ready at the clinic start time.
- Completes daily pre-departure, site setup, and end-of-day checklist to ensure proper operation and readiness of Mobile Clinic.
- Maintains logs of vehicle usage (mileage, destinations, etc.), at the beginning and end of each day.
- Oversees maintenance of the mobile unit, ensuring it receives proper upkeep and that all systems, including the generator and onboard equipment, are functioning correctly.
- Routinely inspects all vehicle equipment (stairs, hydraulic levelers, awning, etc.) and reports need for repairs to program leadership.
- Maintains an approved written record and receipts for vehicle upkeep (generator servicing, oil changes, gas fuel, waste disposal, etc.)
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the interior of the mobile unit.
- Performs routine maintenance of vehicle (e.g. replacing water, emptying waste tank, getting gas and oil, trash disposal, and exterior cleaning/wash).
- Orders parts and makes minor repairs to the vehicle (lights, cabinets, locks, etc.) with approval from program leadership.
- Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and service appointments.
- Keeps maintenance records and promptly reports any vehicle service needs.
- Communicate with the Program Supervisor regarding maintenance, housekeeping, and operational issues.
- Coordinates the purchasing of supplies necessary for vehicle and workspace maintenance, including cleaning supplies, non-clinical supplies, and others as requested.
- Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies essential for the operation and upkeep of the Mobile Clinic through approved logs.
- Assists with Department of Motor Vehicle duties, including vehicle registration renewals, CA Carb Emissions Standards, Smog Checks, and others, when requested by program leadership.
- Ensure the safety of all patients, staff, and equipment during transport and setup.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies within the scope of training and organizational policy.
- Attends and assists with community events such as health fairs, school events, partner nonprofit events, and other external activities, as requested by program leadership.
- Provides training in vehicle operations to other authorized drivers in the organization and staff when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Mobile Clinic Operations:
- Assists the program leadership with site selection and accommodation for van parking and accessibility.
- Performs daily setup and breakdown of the mobile unit at each location, including heavy lifting and set-up of external tents, chairs, tables, and supplies.
- Prepares unit for patients; ensures proper cleaning up afterward, including breakdown of equipment while also adhering to proper environmental clean-up of clinic and non-clinical spaces (internal and external to vehicle).
- Assists with patient registration to include collecting patient information, verifying patient identification, confirming appointment status, and assistance with completing registration paper forms.
- In the event the mobile van is not operating, staff may be assigned to work at any of La Clinica's sites as applicable.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent driving skills with no traffic violation records.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Good interpersonal and customer relations skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A high degree of organizational skills, the ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands and the ability to complete tasks under strict timelines is required.
- Mechanical skills and the ability to address minor vehicle issues are required.
- Ability to drive to various sites as needed required.
- Ability to safely operate and maneuver large vehicles or mobile units.
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience driving a mobile clinic van, bus, or similar vehicle required. Medical Office experience preferred.
- Valid and current California Class C driver’s license with no suspensions or revocations required. Must pass driver’s pre-insurance background check
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, or sitting.
- Bending/lifting, pushing/pulling, adjusting, or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds in all directions and occasionally more.
- Repeating motions that may include the neck, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Upper extremity demands: Reaching above shoulder and/or below waist
- Perform work in an indoor, outdoor and/or mobile clinic environment, in varying temperatures and working conditions.
- Manual dexterity used to include, but not limited to, standard office equipment, and computer keyboard.
- Traveling to work sites, including some exposure to outside elements.
- The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials, Bloodborne Pathogens, and situations requiring extensive safety precautions and protective equipment.
- Operation of personal vehicle requires possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
- Operation of personal and work vehicles requires a valid driver's license.
